My story

About Dundee 2

Min Bae 2015. 4. 20. 04:40

I think it was very fortunate for me that I happened to begin to stay at a flat in Dundee last September.

Above all, this small town, but larger than St Andrews, has a shape that is pretty alike to that of Seoul.

The river Tay is fairly a big river for the size of the town and always reminds me of Han river.

And a low hill, called the Law, in the centre of the town also resembles Namsan in Seoul, especially the War Memorial tower on the top of the hill also reminding me of the N-Tower in Namsan.

I went to the Law a few times at night, guided by local people who seemed to enjoy the night scenes from the hill. When I was there, I could feel a similar feeling as I did when I climbed up to the Namsan or 63 Building.

Dundee felt like a reduced-size version of part of Seoul, especially its river and mountain.

In addition I study quite often in Dundee university library where I can enter freely with my student ID card of St Andrews university.

This time I post several photos that I took in the last few months.

This is Dundee university. Especially this scene is my favourite one. I can view the scene on the way from the university library to the Perth road, one of the main roads of Dundee city. Under the horizontal part of the building structure in the shape of a bridge, a small landscape of the river and hill is naturally drawn.

This is also another part of the campus of Dundee university. It is a different type of university from St Andrews university, and it does have distinguishable campus boundaries.

In that sense, Dundee university is much similar to Korean universities that I used to see.

This is a park that I usually pass by when jogging. It is a paradise for dogs particularly due to its large size and scarce visit of people to this park. However it is too a quiet place for a dog to play around with other dogs, and the dogs, too, tend to prefer spending his or her own time to socialising with others even when they meet some dog of the same breed as them. And almost always they politely refuse to wear a neck lace in the park.

This is another photo I took while jogging.

This is the Dundee airport runway. It is not an international airport and very small. Instead, it gives me a chance to have some different kinds of interesting experience.

When I see some light airplanes taking off there, I just stare them for a while without any thought until the sky swallows them.

This is near the Ninewell Hospital, the biggest one in the Dundee. Particularly this place is one of the most quiet and peaceful places in the town, I think.

It is not night. Just I took it in the direction against the sun, but I like this darkness and the bright sun beam, particularly the contrasting feeling. It feels as if it shows a ray of hope in our life.

Sometimes I feel things are beginning to look more promising just even looking at a small sunlight.

In fact, in any tiny things I believe the meaning of our life is present inside them.
