My story

The last month before leaving St Andrews

Last August was the last month I stayed in St Andrews.

I think one of the most attractive things of St Andrews was that it was a university town located along the beach.

People say that the combination of the two, university and the beach, is very rare even in the UK.

I remember one of the students saying that one of the reasons why he'd chosen the university was he liked seeing the sea.

I could understand him, although not all of my memories related to the sea are very happy ones.

I also enjoyed lots of walks while staying in St Andrews, as much as I did in Dundee.

Looking back on my life, I spent the large part of it somewhere close to the sea, even before I came to Scotland, such as Busan, where I was born, Incheon, where I graduated from elementary school and went to middle and high schools, and the island where I worked as a dentist in a branch of a public health centre for a year.

An afternoon at East Sands beach with my shadow

The study room in Deans Court at night

On a sunny day during a walk along the cliff near East Sands beach

Rainbow on the sea at West Sands beach

Darkening sky with sunset on the sea, taken at the castle

Caught by the sun on the quadrangle, on the way home for dinner

Turning the corner, walking in St Salvator's Quadrangle

One of my favorite places in St Andrews, because of the breeze from the valley next to the sea, Saint Andrews Bay Golf Course

While jogging along a path from the town in the south direction, caught by the blue sky which reminded me of the Korean autumn sky

Sheep encountered on my way home from a long walk

A landscape of St Andrews, the eastern part, viewed from the hill behind St Andrews Community Hospital, a few days before I left the town

The western part of the above view with its town centre, with my favorite type of cloud, cirrus clouds that look like bird feathers

Walking towards the Old Course in the last evening at St Andrews, taken near St Jame Church, the only Catholic church in the town

Looking over West Sands beach that evening, with the restaurant and aquarium that I always passed by when jogging but didn't even once entered, taken near Martyr's Memorial
